I was pretty sick when I got here. I wasn't breathing and the doctors had to help me right away. I also was very tight with a whole lot of fluid (this must have come from mommy's toxemia) and had apgar scores of 1 (at 1 minute), 4 (at 5 minutes), and 6 (at 10 minutes). I didn't even get to really see mommy and daddy because the doctors took me right then to the NICU so they could check me out and make sure I was breathing ok.
The doctors looked me over and found out I had a cleft palate and a clubfoot. They also thought I might have a syndrome so they drew a bunch of blood for tests. I really didn't care for that too much!
After three different chromosome tests the doctors found out that I had perfectly normal chromosomes and no syndrome. This made my mommy and daddy very happy! I had an MRI at around 3 weeks old and the doctors did find out that I have something called partial agenesis of the corpus callosum (P-ACC). The geneticist told mommy and daddy to not worry to much because it is very mild and only time would tell what would happen. They didn't care anyway-they just wanted to take me home!
I finally got to come home on September 28, 2001 weighing 4 lbs 7 oz. Mommy and daddy and all my family was very happy and I finally got to see my new house and begin my life.
