I can't believe it is almost Christmastime again-wow!! I thought I would give an update since it has been so long and lots has happened and I have done lots of new things!
I am now 15 mths old and I weigh 16-17 lbs and am around 27 inches long. As you can tell I am still pretty small so I may be going to a dr called an endrocrinologist soon to see if I need some help growing. I eat good so I may just need some special medicine to help out a little bit!
I also have a new brace now. It is called a Rhino hip cruiser and I have to wear it 23 hrs a day until the end of January. My orthopedist (foot dr), Dr Turi gave me the brace. He says my foot looks perfect but that on my last x-rays my hips were dislocated. The right one at 60% and the left one at 50%. After a week in the brace I had another x-ray while wearing it and it showed that it is keeping my hips in joint and it is working. That was a relief because the next step could be surgery and a REALLY big cast. My hips have always been tight and now the drs think that may due to my high tone and spasticity. They say this is because I have something called spastic cerebral palsy (which mommy says she knew all along anyway) that is making my muscles all confused on how they should be. The brace isn't bad-I can wear it under my clothes and I can still sit in it. It does kinda make it hard to stand, but I guess I can work on my standing after the brace. Mommy says you gotta take the good with the bad-whatever that means!
I also have something called a fistula in my cleft palate. That means that after my surgery it came back open a tiny bit and now I have a small hole. I go back to see the dr in December and he will tell us what we are going to do. Everyone says that they may wait a while to fix it-which is fine by me!!!
Otherwise, I am feeling pretty good. Right now I have an ear infection and a respiratory infection. Dr. Johnson says he don't know if it is RSV or not but that since I am now taking the RSV vaccine it won't be so bad. I am having to have breathing treatments 3 times a day and taking antibiotics but thats ok. I don't much like the RSV vaccine. I have to have a shot 1 time a month until April-but I guess it is worth it so that I don't get RSV.
I am still receiving early intervention, OT, and PT 1 time a week, vision therapy 2 times a month, vision OT 1-2 times a month, I am on the speech therapy waiting list, I am going to start horseback riding in the spring, and I go to KinderMusik classes every Tuesday night. I really like KinderMusik-we get to sing, dance, and play instruments...and I get to meet other babies my age!!
I sat up on my own at 13 months old, and then I got my brace so I am now learning to sit up in it. I can also stand, support myself on all 4s, reach, hold my toys, transfer them from left to right hand, understand cause and effect games, recognize mommy and daddy and my name, "sing" to my songs, try to talk back, eat solids, drink from my sippy, watch cartoons, and I am trying to wave bye-bye. Sometimes I will do it and sometimes I won't-just depends on my mood.
Mommy and Daddy got me a puppy too!! Her name is Sadie and she gets to stay inside with me all the time. She is just 18 weeks old right now, but I like her and I think we are going to be best friends. She is a Bassett Hound and real gentle with me. She was my early christmas present.
Well, thats about all for right now. Thursday is Thanksgiving and I get to see all my family and eat lots of mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie-I can't wait!!!
